Manor Clinic News
We are introducing "choose and book" to our
referrals. This means that when your Doctor feels you need a hospital
appointment you will be given a choice of hospitals, and arrangements
made so you can book your own appointment, either on the telephone
or on line.
August/September 2006 Newsletter
New Patient Check-In
We have a new computerised patient check-in system;
this is situated on the Reception counter.
Please follow the simple instructions on the touch
screen to automatically check yourself in. Please ask for assistance
if you are not sure.
There is no need to see the Receptionist once you have
successfully checked in.
Missed Appointments
During the months of June and July 120 patients did
not attend their appointments.
Please call the Surgery and let us know if you are
unable to attend your appointment.
Practice Lists
Patients are registered with the Practice as a whole
and not under individual doctors. Patients may ask to see a specific
Doctor, although it may not be possible to see the Doctor of your
choice every time.
One Appointment, One Problem
The majority of Doctors appointments are between 10
and 12 minutes long.
If you have a number of problems please let the Doctor
know and they can book you in for a further appointment at a later
date if necessary.
Prescriptions
Prescriptions take a minimum of 48 hours if the request
is received in writing before 12pm.
Prescription requests received after 12pm will take
up to 72 hours.
This does not include weekends or public holidays.
We regret
we are unable to take routine prescription requests
over the telephone.
Pneumococcal Vaccine
Are you over 65?
Or have been diagnosed with one of the following?
Chronic Heart Disease
Chronic Respiratory Disease
Chronic Kidney Disease
Chronic Liver Disease
Diabetes
Weak Immune System
Splenectomy
CSF Shunt
For most patients, pneumococcal vaccine is given only
once, so if youve already had one you probably dont
need another! If youre unsure, please ask Reception.
Influenza Vaccine
We are expecting to start our flu
campaign as normal in October, despite current news
headlines forecasting delays. Those patients with chronic diseases
will be prioritised.
Medication Reviews
We are currently trying to review all our patients
medications.
It is important that all prescription medicines are
reviewed regularly.
Please make a routine Doctors appointment for your
medication review.
Appointments
We offer two types of appointment:
On the day appointments.
Please ring the surgery at 8am. You will be given the
first available appointment, with the first available Doctor;
this may not be the Doctor of your choice.
Pre-bookable appointments.
Please ring between 10am and 6pm for an advance appointment
with the Doctor of your choice, these will be afternoon appointments.
Home Visits
Requests for home visits should be made as soon after
8am as possible. Only those medically unable to travel can be
seen at home. Four patients can be seen in the surgery in the
time taken for one home visit, hence we ask patients that are
able to attend the surgery to do so.
Zero Tolerance
Did you know there were 60,385 assaults on NHS staff
in 2004/05?
This Practice upholds the NHS policy of Zero Tolerance.
Any person behaving in an unacceptable manner on the
premises will be asked to leave.
Annual Reviews
It is important, if you have been diagnosed with the
following chronic medical problems, that you have regular health
checks. These appointments may be with the Doctor, Nurse, Clinical
Practitioner or Health Care Assistant depending on your condition.
