Q.1 About 70 people each month do not turn up for a booked appointment at the surgery. This wastes 70 appointments. Please let us know if you are not going to attend your appointment so that someone else can use it. Q.2 If you are ill elsewhere in the country you can contact any local GP who will treat you under the NHS at no charge in the same way your regular GP would. Q.3 On an average monday on duty the Doctor handling emergencies will encounter at least 50 patients. This si why we ask for several days notice for routine matters such as repeat prescriptions etc. There is no time to fit in routine tasks when there are large numbers of urgent cases to deal with. Q.4 Each Doctor looks after about 1800 patients on their list. Q.5 You do not need a Doctors note unless you have been off work for seven days or more. You can self certify your illness for periods of up to seven days. Appointments for sick notes for minor illnesses take up and waste a lot of Doctors time. A charge is made for any private sick notes issued for periods of less than 7 days. Q.6 Noone, not even your parents or family members will be told of your medical problems or anything else unless you permit it. |
